FAQ
Where are your classes held?
Decorating Classes are held at the Box Factory Community Centre, 59 Regent Sreet South in the city. They are held upstairs in the Regent Room (Kitchen). There is space for up to 12 students but we do not necessarily open all of our classes up to this size so that you have the best class experience.
Is there parking available?
There is plenty of untimed and well lit parking available on Halifax Street, and it is a short walk down to the centre.
The class I want to do is full, when are you publishing the next ones?
Because the Box Factory is run by the Adelaide City Council, we must schedule in to book times with them according to the centre availability, as many other community groups hire the centre for their own use. We do not have any information on new dates any sooner than we list the classes!
How can I find out about the classes as soon as they come out?
If you subscribe to the Newsletter, you’ll be emailed as soon as they are released!
How do I book into a class?
On the Class Registration page, the available classes with spaces will be listed. Register for your preferred class. If the one you want is not there, or full, you will have to wait for the next one. We do not keep waiting lists unless of special cirumstances (see below)
What do I bring to a class?
Please ensure you wear enclosed shoes (for OH&S reasons), an apron (if you have one) and bring a carry bag. If you do not have an apron just expect to head home a little dirty, but it will save you some bother! Class specific requirements will be emailed to you before the class.
What happens after my booking is confirmed?
After you have booked and paid for your space, we send you a reminder email seven days prior to the class which will detail everything you need to know. All you need to do after this is turn up! If you book for a class and do not pay within 48 hours your space will be released back into the available pool due to repeated non payment incidents. You can make payment via Bank Deposit or PayPal.
I have paid and booked into a class, but cannot make it due to illness/exceptional circumstances. What happens?
If you advise us with enough notice (as much notice as possible, 24 hours preferred) we are more than happy to hold onto your class credit until another time comes around. If we do not hear from you before the class start time, your payment will be considered forfeited.
You need to read all of the details of the class you are registering for and make sure you meet the requirements if it is an advanced class (ie, Cupcakes 102).
Are you running another *insert class here* soon?
Our most frequently scheduled class is Cupcakes 101. If there are no spots currently available, check back weekly – or sign up to the newsletter to be notified first when the class listings go live. We get lots of emails asking us about all of our classes and we try to run them as frequently as possible. Scheduling all of our classes depends on the availability of the venue we book them in, which sometimes is the biggest hurdle.
When they’re first listed on the website, Cupcakes 101 usually books out within 24 hours.
What about home/private classes?
Home classes can be booked for any of our regular classes with you and three friends. We usually hold them on a Monday-Thursday night depending on our schedule availability and it takes about three hours. For Cake Basics we recommend a full weekend day, or over two nights (2 x 3hr sessions). All you need to provide is the kitchen space, access to an oven and a table for you to all sit around for decorating.
Private one on one classes, depending on the content you’d like to cover, start from $80 an hour. There is a minimum of a two hour booking, plus all travel costs are applicable ($0.50 per km travelled return). For classes like Cake Basics and Art of Macarons where we require more time discounts are available for more hours booked.
Refund Policy
We offer refunds in line with ACCC requirements for physical merchandise and will offer a full refund, credit, or exchange if the item is faulty, not as described, or unfit for a purpose we have specified it is suitable for. We offer no refunds for change of mind or for food products once orders are confirmed as we allocate ingredients and labour prior to the delivery date.
